Abstract

The research objective was to determine the effect of gutter slope and water discharge on production of pakcoy (Brassica rapa chinensis) using NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) hydroponic. It was conducted from October 2020 to March 2021 in Plant House, Agricultural Engineering Study Program, Agricultural Technology Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used in this research was Split Plot Design with two factors treatment consisting of water discharge (Q) as the main plot at two levels and gutter slope (T) as subplot at two levels with three replications for each treatment combination. The observed parameters were crop height, leaves number, crop fresh weight and crop productivity. The results showed that water discharge and gutter slope had significant effect on crop height and crop fresh weight. The highest crop height was found on Q1T3 treatment with magnitude of 4.16 cm, whereas the lowest crop height was found on Q2T1 treatment with magnitude of 3.45 cm. The highest leaves number was found on Q1T2 treatment with magnitude of 14 leaves, whereas the lowest leaves number was found on Q2T1 treatment with magnitude of 12 leaves. The highest crop fresh weight was found on Q1T2 treatment with magnitude of 111.2 g, whereas the lowest crop fresh weight was found on Q2T1 treatment with magnitude of 85 g. The highest crop productivity was found on 6% gutter slope and water discharge of 0.5 L.min-1 treatment with magnitude 0.463 kg.m-2, whereas the lowest crop productivity was found on 4% gutter slope and water discharge of 1.31 L.min-1 treatment with magnitude 0.354 kg.m-2.
