Abstract

The research objective was to determine role of growth mindset toward academic buoyancy on first year college students during online learning. The study hypothesis that growth mindset has a role to academic buoyancy on first year college students during online learning. Participants in this study were 200 college students of the class of 2020 from all over Indonesia who take online lectures. The sampling technique used is the incidental sampling technique. This study used two scales as a measuring tool, namely the growth mindset scale which refers to dimension of Dweck (2006) and academic buoyancy scale which refers to dimensions of Martin & Marsh (2010). The result of the research data were analyzed using the simple regression method. The result obtained by value of R = 0,155, R square = 0,24, F = 4,484, P = 0,000 (p<0,05). It proved that growth mindset has significant role of 2,4% towards academic buoyancy. Therefore the hypothesis is accepted. Keyword : Growth Mindset, Academic Buoyancy Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran growth mindset terhadap academic buoyancy pada mahasiswa tahun pertama selama pembelajaran daring. Hipotesis dari penelitian ini adalah ada peran growth mindset terhadap academic buoyancy pada mahasiswa tahun pertama selama pembelajaran daring. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah 200 orang mahasiswa angkatan 2020 dari seluruh Indonesia yang mengikuti perkuliahan secara daring. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah teknik incidental sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua buah skala sebagai alat ukur, yaitu skala growth mindset yang mengacu pada dimensi dari Dweck (2006) dan skala academic buoyancy yang mengacu pada dimensi – dimensi dari Martin & Marsh (2010). Hasil data penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis regresi sederhana (simple regression). Hasil analisis regresi menunjukkan R = 0,154, R square = 0,24, F = 4,484, P = 0,000 (p<0,05). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa growth mindset memiliki peran yang signifikan terhadap academic buoyancy. Sumbangan efektif growth mindset terhadap academic buoyancy sebesar 24%. Dengan demikian hipotesis yang diajukan diterima. Kata kunci : Growth Mindset, Academic Buoyancy
