Abstract

Backcrossing is generally used to improve varieties that already have agronomic characters, but are not good at one or some traits. backcrossing is carried out in order to update the weaknesses found in rice varieties by introgressing the expected genes from other rice varieties . This crossing method can be used to quickly form the desired rice population. The aim of this study was to determine whether the introgression of the Sub1 gene in the BC3F2 population from crossing with local parents resulted in a population of BC4F1 containing the Sub 1 gene and resistant to submerged stress. The research was conducted in the ATC Greenhouse and in the Soaking Tub of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research was conducted from September 2020 to March 2021. The research used accession rice seeds BC3F2 of Pegagan and Pelita Rampak varieties as male parents, and for local elders using Pegagan and Pelita Rampak varieties as female parents. The method used in this study was crossing local parent genotypes with BC3F2 accession obtained by BC4F1 accession and then testing the immersion stress tolerance ability in the vegetative phase. The parameters observed at the time of crossing included the percentage of the results of the crossing and the number of grains produced from the cross. While the observation parameters of cross-bred seed immersion include plant height, greenness content, dry weight and growth analysis. The results showed that plants resulting from local genotype crossovers with BC3F2 accession to the growth of the measles pelita genotype tend to show the best growth after experiencing submerged stress. plant height growth, leaf greenness, and growth analysis
