Abstract

The ethanol extract of Rambutan parasite leaf Dendrophthoe pentandra contains secondary metabolites of flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and triterpenoids. The present study aimed to investigate the mechanism of antiulcer effect of ethanol extract of Rambutan parasite leaf Dendrophthoe pentandra using the indekx ulcer, percentage of protection index, pH of gastric juices, volume of gastric juices, total acidity of gastric juices, and microsopy. This study used wistar male rats which were divided into 6 groups: normal, positive control (Omeprazole 20 mg/kgBW), negative control (NaCMC 0.5%), test group 1 (125 mg/kgBW), test group 2 (250 mg/kgBW), test group 3 (500 mg/kgBW). All rats were given treatment for 14 days, then induced absolute ethanol 1 mL / 200gramBB. Total flavonoid levels contained in the ethanol extract of Rambutan parasite leaf Dendrophthoe pentandra was 19,45 mgQE/g of the extract with a percentage of 2%. The results showed that ethanol extract of Rambutan parasite leaf Dendrophthoe pentandra leaves gave an antiulcer effect where there was a significant difference with the negative control (p<0.05). The ethanol extract of Rambutan parasite leaf Dendrophthoe pentandra leaves at a dose of 500 mg/kgBW has an effective antiulcer effect, seen from the indexulcer of 7,09 and the percentage of the protection index is 46,42%.
