Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between personality trait extraversion and music performance anxiety in college student musician. This study hypothesizes that there is a relationship between personality trait extraversion and music performance anxiety in college student musician. Participants in this study were 150 college student musician who lived in Indonesia. The sampling technique used is the purposive sampling technique. This study uses two scales as a measuring tool, namely the personality trait extraversion scale which refers to aspects od McCrae and Costa (2003) and music performance anxiety scale which refers to components of Kenny (2006). The results of the research data were analyzed using the Pearson product moment correlation method. The result showed that there was a relationship between personality trait extraversion and music performance anxiety in college student musician with r = -0,238, and p = =0,003 (p<0,05). This shows that personality trait extraversion has a low, negative, and significant relationship with music performance anxiety. Thus the hypothesis purposed is accepted. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara personality trait extraversion dengan music performance anxiety pada mahasiswa musisi. Hipotesis dari penelitian ini adalah ada hubungan antara personality trait extraversion dengan music performance anxiety pada mahasiswa musisi. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah 150 orang mahasiswa musisi di Indonesia. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua buah skala sebagai alat ukur, yaitu skala personality trait extraversion yang mengacu pada aspek-aspek dari McCrae dan Costa (2003) dan skala music performance anxiety yang mengacu pada komponen-komponen dari Kenny (2006). Hasil data penelitian dianalisis dengan metode korelasi pearson product moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan antara personality trait extraversion dengan music performance anxiety pada mahasiswa musisi dengan nilai r = -0,238, dan p = 0,003 (p<0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa personality trait extraversion dengan memiliki hubungan yang rendah, negatif, dan signifikan dengan music performance anxiety. Dengan demikian hipotesis yang diajukan diterima.
