Abstract

Cultural diplomacy is a soft power that is often used by countries in achieving their interests with other countries. Diplomacy that is subtle without any coercion is considered capable of being a tool in achieving the interests of a country. As did Indonesia, which carried out its cultural diplomacy to New Zealand. Indonesia utilizes its diversity as a tool in achieving its national interests. This study aims to find out what efforts Indonesia has made in carrying out its cultural diplomacy to New Zealand. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Data obtained by literature studies and documentation studies consist of articles, journals, websites, archives and even pictures or photos. The theoretical concepts used are constructivism theory and mutual understanding. The type of research used in this research is qualitative. Data collection technique is done by collecting secondary data. Based on the research results obtained, Indonesia seeks to carry out cultural diplomacy to New Zealand through cultural elements such as historical similarities, language, art and Indonesian cultural exhibitions. The forms of diplomacy used are aimed at increasing mutual understanding between countries which will have an impact on increasing cooperation in various fields such as education, socio-culture, economy, trade, investment, tourism, and defense and security.
