Abstract

The research was conducted to mapping the distribution of Lansium domesticum in various duku production centers in South Sumatra and to study the morphological diversity of Lansium domesticum in South Sumatra. Research was the initial stage of conservation. The popularity of L.domesticum in South Sumatra needs to be maintained but development often takes over rhe function of L.domesticum plantation land, thus potentially reducing duku plant population, this should be prevented from threatening the existence of L.domesticum plants. Sampling was taken by means of exploration using purposive sampling method. then carried out inventory by taking coordinate point at location of L.domesticum population. Data analysis was done by processing GPS coordinate point data through AreGIS application. Observation of morphological diversity was done by characterization of morphology and analyzed by descriptive method. Based on the research results, it was known that Distribution of L.domesticum in South Sumatra is highest in Ogan Komering Ilir District with the areas ± 13,1 Ha, the second highest is in East OKU Timur District with the plantation area of ± 10,89 Ha, followed by South OKU District with the areas ± 8,98 Ha. While the lowest L.domesticum plantation areas are in Musi Rawas District with the areas of ± 2,27 Ha. Based on the morphological analysis of L.domesticum in South Sumatra, there were two variants of L.domesticum namely L.domesticum variant duku and L.domesticum variance Langsat. Morphological Characters that distinguish between duku and langsat variants were found under canopy conditions, presence of hair on top and bottom surfaces of leaves, fruit shape, fruit skin thickness, fruit taste and the presence of sap on ripe fruit.
