Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Persepsi Mahasiwa Mengenai Stereotipe Etnis Tionghoa Pada Film Ngenest: Kadang Hidup Perlu Ditertawakan (Studi Komparatif Mahasiswa Etnis Tionghoa dan Non-Tionghoa)”, judul ini didasari dari adanya stereotipe negatif terhadap Etnis Minoritas di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi mahasiswa mengenai Stereotipe Etnis Tionghoa Pada Film Ngenest: Kadang Hidup Perlu Ditertawakan, dan mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan persepsi antara Mahasiswa Etnis Tionghoa dan Mahasiswa Non-Etnis Tionghoa mengenai Stereotipe Etnis Tionghoa pada Film Ngenest: Kadang Hidup Perlu Ditertawakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik komparatif. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori Stereotipe yang dikemukakan oleh Larry A. Samovar (2010), Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari data primer, data sekunder dan hasil penyebaran kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa persepsi mahasiswa mengenai stereotipe Etnis Tionghoa pada film Ngenest arahnya positif, intensitasnya biasa, dan ketepatanya masih ragu—ragu, lalu tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelompok mahasiswa menurut hasil uji beda Mann-Whitney dengan signifikansi sebesar (0,274>0,05). Kata Kunci: Persepsi, Stereotipe, Film, Etnis Tionghoa
