Abstract

Personal hygiene in food vendors during the Covid-19 pandemic is very important because when preparing and serving food can cause the transfer of viruses and bacteria that cause disease that can interfere with health. Public places such as the Sekayu City Roundabout can be a place for the spread of disease, especially diseases that spread through the air, food, and drink. This study aims to determine the level of personal hygiene compliance and the application of health protocols to food vendors at the Sekayu City Roundabout to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This study is a qualitative descriptive study using observational methods to get an overview and analyze personal hygiene at food vendors and the application of health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to food vendors at the Sekayu City roundabout, the number of informants in this study was 20 people, including 2 key informants. 12 main informants, and 6 additional informants. The results of this study indicate that the personal hygiene conditions of food vendors at the Sekayu City Roundabout have almost fulfilled the requirements, starting from the habit of washing hands, knowing the importance of personal and clothing hygiene, and not smoking during the process of preparing and serving food. However, it was found that food vendors did not use head coverings, did not have short nails, and did not use an apron. The implementation of the Covid-19 prevention health protocol has been implemented by traders well, but has not been categorized as meeting all the requirements because social distancing and the use of disinfectants have not been implemented properly. The conclusion of this study is that food traders at the Sekayu City Roundabout have almost implemented all the requirements in accordance with Permenkes No. 942 of 2003 concerning guidelines for hygiene and sanitation requirements for snacks. Food traders have properly implemented the health protocols that apply during the Covid-19 pandemic, but cannot be categorized as meeting all the requirements, because the implementation of social distancing and the use of disinfectants have not been implemented properly.
