Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the efficiency of the performance of oil spinner machine to improve the quality of cassava chips. This research has been conducted from January 2021 to March 2021 at the Laboratory of Agricultural Machinery and workshop, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The method used was Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAKF) with three research factors, namely the capacity of material (A) with two levels of treatment, the rotation of spinning cylinder (B) and duration of spinning time (C) with three levels of treatment and each treatment combination was repeated three times. The parameters of this study are actual capacity, percentage of oil drained, percentage of wrecked chips, and spin yield. The results of this study showed that the treatment of the capacity of material had a real different on the actual capacity, percentage of oil drained, percentage of wrecked chips, and spin yield. The treatment of the rotation of spinning cylinder had an unreal effect on the percentage of wrecked chips, had a real different on the actual capacity, percentage of oil drained, and spin yield. The treatment of the duration of spinning machine had a real different on the actual capacity. The highest actual capacity value of the machine is found in treatment interactions of A2B2C1 which is 29.07 kg/h. The shorter the duration of spinning time, the actual capacity of the machine will increase. The highest percentage of oil drained value found in treatment interactions of A2B2C2 which is 9.76%. The highest percentage of wrecked chips value found in treatment interactions A2B3C1 which is 28.95%. The percentage of oil drained will be higher if the value of the material capacity is high, but it can also increase the percentage of wrecked chips. The highest spin yield value found in treatment interactions A1B1C3 which is 97.33%
