Abstract

Chemotherapy in breast cancer patients can cause side effects for sufferers. These side effects are disorders of the gastrointestinal system that can cause malnutrition. Breast cancer patients need good nutrition in undergoing therapy so that family knowledge is needed in their management. One of the effective health education to increase knowledge in breast cancer family members is peer education. This study used pre-experimental approach with one group pretest-posttest design. Analyze data using univariate analysis with frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using Wilcoxon sign rank test. The results of knowledge research showed respondents before peer education had sufficient knowledge and approximately more than half (75%) and after peer education all respondents had good knowledge (100%). This suggests that there is an influence peer education has on family knowledge about breast cancer chemotherapy patients. Peer education can be utilized in providing health education to the family knowledge of breast cancer chemotherapy patients.
