Abstract

Nowadays herbaceous pepper plant is one of the spices plants which is an important accommodation for world trade. Herbaceous pepper plants have high economic value, pepper plants bear fruit at the age of about 2-3 years. This research are purpose to determine the effect of Mg fertilizer on soil pH, soil and plant Mg as well as the growth of lafda shrub (Piper Ningrum L.). This research will be figured out in the greenhouse and the analysis will be carried out in the Laboratory of Physics and Soil Conservation as well as the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility, Soil Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research was conducted in October 2020. This research used a completely randomized design method with one factor and four replications, the factors to be used were Mg fertilizer at a dose per polybag as follows: Mg0 = without Mg fertilizer, Mg1 = 4 g/ plant, Mg2 = 8 g / plant, Mg3 = 12 g / plant, and Mg4 = 16 g / plant. The results showed that Mg (kiserit) fertilizer treatment had no significant effect on soil pH, soil and plant Mg as well as the growth of herbaceous pepper.
