Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine effect of fertilization dose on the growth and content of citronella sitrona 2 varieties produced and to approach an artificial neural network model on citronella plant growth by identifying the growth of the plant structure. This research has been carried out in Phase 2 of the Reclamation Land of the Citronella Plantation of PT. Mitra Alas Agri, Joint Basic Laboratory and Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University which will take place from December 2020 to May 2021. This study used a completely randomized design (RAL). The treatment factor used was the dose of fertilizer for one type of citronella variety and was repeated five times. The level of manure and NPK application consists of five levels, namely not fertilized, 100% of recommendation, 175% of recommendation, 200% of recommendation and 225% of recommendation. The parameters in this study were stem length, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of tillers, oil yield and essential oil content of citronella. The results showed that the level of fertilizer dosing on citronella plants had a significant effect on citronella plants that were not given fertilizer (A0). The artificial neural network model with 4 inputs, 1 hidden layer with 4 neurons and 1 output produces the smallest MSE of 9,854x10-8. Validation using MAPE obtained a mean level of error below 3% from the results of the artificial neural network in identifying the structural value of citronella plants. The highest yield of citronella essential oil A4 was 1.146%. The GC-MS test showed the highest content of citronellal A3 32,05%, citronellol A2 6,83% and geraniol A4 57,50%.
