Abstract

One of the longest rivers in South Sumatra is the Musi River which passes through two provinces: The Bengkulu Province and The South Sumatra. The Musi River is the largest river with an average width of 504 meters and a maximum width of 1,350 meters that is around Kemaro Island. The thornfish (Cephalocasis borneensis Bleeker, 1851) is one of the fish that is often caught in the mouth of the River Musi because of the thorns (Cephalocasis borneensis) high economic value and also as a natural stock. When caught continuously can lower fish stocks or the population of the cephalocasis borneensis. The study of the Cephalocasis borneensis aims to find out what kind of food and eating habits of the Cephalocasis borneensis in the mouth of the Musi River Sungsang Village, District of Banyuasin II, Banyuasin Regency South Sumatera. Research was in February until May 2021. Sampling was done by fishermen using random sampling methods that give them the same opportunity to be taken on each element of the fish population. The thorns from the fisherman's catch got 15 tails and a fish sample was all censored for analysis. The food analysis used covers the weight and length of the fish, the length of the intestine and the relative importance of the index. Research results shows that the kind of food found in the intestines of the thorns (Cephalocasis borneensis) are shrimp, crab and the debris of the animal so that the thorn fish (Cephalocassis borneensis) is a carnivorous fish. So the main food for the Cephalocasis borneensis is 45% shrimp with 3% crab fill and the rest 52% animal waste. The suggestion of a study of the eating habits of the thorny fish (Cephalocasis borneensis) requires further research based on gender and time of sampling, requires environmental parameters and the introduction of questions about the number of fish populations to fishermen. Salah satu sungai terpanjang di Sumatera Selatan yaitu Sungai Musi yang melewati dua provinsi yaitu Provinsi Bengkulu dan Sumatera Selatan. Sungai Musi adalah sungai terbesar dengan lebar rata-rata 504 meter dan lebar maksimum 1.350 meter yang berada di sekitar Pulau Kemaro. Ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis Bleeker, 1851) salah satu ikan yang sering ditangkap di muara Sungai Musi karena ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis) bernilai ekonomi tinggi dan juga sebagai stok alami. Apabila dilakukan penangkapan secara terus menerus dapat menurunkan stok ikan atau jumlah populasi dari ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis). Penelitian kebiasaan makanan ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis) bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis makanan serta kebiasaan makanan Ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis) di muara Sungai Musi Desa Sungsang Kecamatan Banyuasin II Kabupaten Banyuasin Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari sampai Mei 2021. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan oleh nelayan dengan metode random sampling yaitu teknik pengambilan sampel yang memberikan kesempatan yang sama untuk diambil pada setiap elemen populasi ikan tersebut. Ikan duri dari tangkapan nelayan didapatkan 15 ekor dan sampel ikan disensus semua untuk di analisis. Analisis makanan yang digunakan meliputi hubungan berat dan panjang ikan, panjang relatif usus dan indek relatif penting (IRP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis makanan yang ditemukan di dalam usus ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis) berupa udang, kepiting dan debris hewan sehingga ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis) termasuk ikan karnivora. Maka dapat disimpulkan makanan utama ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis) adalah udang 45% dengan makanan pelengkap kepiting 3% dan sisanya debris hewan 52%. Saran dari penelitian kebiasaan makanan ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis) diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan waktu pengambilan sampel, diperlukan parameter lingkungan dan pendalaman pertanyaan mengenai jumlah populasi ikan kepada nelayan. Kata kunci: Ikan duri (Cephalocassis borneensis), kebiasaan makanan, panjang usus (RLG), indek relatif penting (IRP), muara sungai musi.
