Abstract

In this Thesis, the point of calculation of the fault location was carried out on the distance relay that located at the Mariana substation to the direction of the New Jakabaring substation. This disturbance in the form of 1 phase short circuit to ground occurred on line 2 on December 25, 2020 at 02:46:28.627 WIB. The distance relay as the main safety in the electric power transmission system is applied to be able to secure electrical equipment and minimize interference areas when a disturbance occurs in the transmission line. In order for the distance relay to work optimally, the settings for zone-1, zone-2, and zone-3 installed on the distance relay must be correct. Thus, the distance relay can work optimally and can optimize its function as the main protection. To be able to compare the calculated fault location points with the result data at PT. PLN (Persero) as one of the descriptions of the fault location points, the results of the impedance calculation value obtained on the distance relay are zone-1 = 0.5902 Ω , zone-2 = 0.885 Ω , and zone-3 = 1.28416 Ω with error percentage values of 0.0399%, 8.722%, and 20 ,92%. So, the zone setting needs to be re-examined. By using the impedance method based on the value of fault current, fault voltage, and the transmission line through which it passes, the impedance value of 0.0733508 is as far as 42.81354 m in zone-1 with an error percentage of 8.6% against the value read in the Easergy Studio application at PT.
