Abstract
Various studies and studies have been conducted to look for alternative liquid insulation. Vegetable oil is considered the most potential because it has the advantage of non-toxic, waste substances due to reactions in the form of CO2 and water, can be biodegradable, high flash point, has better thermal characteristics and can be renewed ( renewable). In this study, POME was used as a raw material for insulator oil with the addition of nano sillica additives to improve the quality of insulating oil. To determine the feasibility of insulating oil is carried out characteristic testing in the form of Density, Viscosity, Moisture Content, Acid Figures, Pour Points, Flash Points and Translucent Voltages. The addition of nano sillica affects viscosity values and acidic numbers in insulator oils. From the test results obtained the lowest density in the addition of nano silica by 0.03% namely 0.8784 g/cm³, the lowest viscosity in oil with the addition of nano sillica 0.13 % namely 4.36 cSt, the lowest acid figure in oil with the addition of nano silica by 0.03% which is 3.32 mgKOH /g, the value of the pour point is the same in each sample, the moisture content is 0.014 %, the flash point > 110 °C and THE PDIV is 3,874 kV in the sample with the addition of nano silica by 0.03%. This indicates that POME-based insulator oil can be used as an alternative to insulating oil.
