Abstract

Macrozoobenthos has a important role within waters. The river is one example of water in which macrozoobenthos can be used as an indicator of pollution in water. Ogan river run across Ogan Komering Ulu district is a crucial river for people of OKU district because Ogan river uses to support their daily activity. Household activity, industrial, and hospitals located around the Ogan river produce fluid waste. the research goals are to measure the structure of communit y macrozoobenthos in waters of Ogan river around Baturaja city. Samples are taken with a method of purposive sampling done on 5 (five) stations, in which each station includes 5 (five) points of sampling that determined based on different microhabitats which are stony, pebbly, sandy, with litter and substrate near the edge of vegetation. Research results showed that 6 classes of macrozoobenthos are found which consists of Bivalve, Crustacea, Insecta, Oligochaeta, and Turbellaria, 12 ordos, 21 family, and 30 genus macrozoobenthos in the Ogan river. The density of macrozoobenthos kinds is within the range of 598 - 1367 ind/m2 . Diversity index value in Ogan river around Baturaja city is within range of 1.117 - 2.22 with diversity index is middle. The similarity index in the community from five station reach >50%, except station III and V (44%).
