Abstract
In families, failure to communicate with children can lead to risky behavior, one of which is premarital sex. Communication problems are a matter of habit, where communication must always be done continuously since the child is still in the womb until the child is an adult. This study aims to determine the communication made by parents and teenagers regarding the prevention of premarital sex. This research is a qualitative research using an in-depth method. The informants in this study found 19 consisting of 8 main informants for adolescents, 8 key informants for parents, and 3 key expert informants, namely from the Palembang City Health Office, the Population Control and Family Planning Service, and Counseling Guidance Teachers. The results showed that the knowledge of 6 of 8 adolescent informants and 7 of 8 key informants of parents related to reproductive health was still limited to its use. This shows that adolescent informants and parents do not understand the purpose of reproductive health. The program carried out by the Health Service and DPPKB to prevent premarital sexual behavior leads to adolescent health services using counseling programs. In this study, the parenting applied by the parents is authoritative, which means that parents still give freedom to their children but with strict limits. In this study, parental informants only provided information related to puberty and the use of reproductive organs. Teenagers get a lot of information on premarital sexual behavior from the internet, television and other social media. Communication between parents and children has been established effectively by discussing children's daily activities, but communicating about reproductive health and prevention of premarital sex is still rarely discussed by them. In providing information, parents still very rarely use nonverbal communication patterns. It is hoped that every school in Sukarami District will hold a Counseling Service program for teenagers such as PIK R.
