Abstract

This study aims was to determine the quality of silage oil palm frond Enhanced minerals zinc by in vitro.. This research was carried out from February to May 2021 at the Nutrition and Animal Feed Laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture and the Integrated Testing Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The design used in this study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications. Experimental treatments were oil palm midrib powder without mineral addition as a control (P0), then oil palm midrib powder added with 1% Zn mineral (P1), and oil palm midrib powder with 3% Zn mineral added (P3), in vitro. (artificial saliva). The parameters observed in this study were the concentration of partial VFA, NH3, and microbial protein. Differences in treatment were analyzed with the help of SPSS software version 20 and Duncan's Test. The results of this study showed that the application of Zn minerals to oil palm midribs was not significantly different or could not improve the quality of oil palm midrib powder at concentrations of propionic acid, butyric acid, NH3, and microbial protein, but in acetic acid showed a significant difference where at a concentration of 1 % had a value of 40 mM, and at a concentration of 3% increased to 45 mM when compared to 30 mM on control
