Abstract

Songket fabric typical Palembang which is the best type of textile fabric in the world. Songket fabric is not just about aesthetics but has other meanings, namely courage, prosperity, and glory. With the development of the songket cloth era began to fade and the culture of welcoming began to decrease and was not in demand by the community. If this is allowed and there is no preservation effort then over time the songket cloth will disappear. Not only that, this is also due to the lack of education about the songket cloth. This is certainly the basis of consideration in the preservation of a cultural heritage, especially for the songket fabric itself. This design is to make a building "songket museum" as a place to store a diverse collection of songket palembang motifs because considering the motif of songket palembang quite a lot. This is a form of effort in the preservation of the cultural heritage of songket fabric and also to introduce songket palembang more broadly with an educational, interactive, comfortable, and not boring container. In this design the application of building styles using a combined approach between modern architecture and traditional architecture (neo-vernacular architecture) this architectural style is considered quite attractive because there is still a lack of buildings that use neo-vernacular architecture in palembang
