Abstract

Lactobacillus bulgaricus is a lactic acid bacteria that can provide health benefits by improving the immune system on its host. Corn oil (Zea mays L.) has a relatively high content of linoleic acid (PUFA ω-6) and palmitic acid that can improve the immune system. This study aims to determine the effect of Lactobacillus bulgaricus probiotic administration with corn oil (Zea mays L.) on the body's immune system. The observed immunity parameters are the number of leukocyte cells, lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, and CD4+ T cells. Test animals are grouped into 7 treatment groups, namely the normal group, P1 (probiotic suspension 0,75 mL/200gBW), P2 (corn oil 1 mL/200gBW), P3 (probiotic suspension 0,25 mL and corn oil 1 mL/200gBW), P4 (probiotic suspension 0,5 mL and corn oil 1 mL/200gBW), P5 (probiotic suspension 0,75 mL and corn oil 1 mL/200gBW), and P6 (probiotic suspension 1 mL and corn oil 1 mL/200gBW). Parametric statistical analysis method in the form of ANOVA with Tukey test (post hoc). The results showed a significant increase in the number of leukocyte, lymphocyte, neutrophil and T CD4+ cells (sig<0,05). Administration of probiotic suspension 0,5 mL with corn oil 1 mL/200gBW shows an increase in the number of leukocyte cells, lymphocytes, neutrophils and monocytes were highest with values of 34,40±2,10; 22,30±3,82; 8,07±3,99; and 3,57±0,71 (103 cells/μL) respectively. While the administration of probiotic suspension 1 mL with corn oil 1 mL/200gBW showed an increase in the number of CD4+ T cells at the highest of 9,33±1,53 cells / μL.
