Abstract

At this time China is a country that superpower countries can take into account and watch out for, such as the United States, because since the Awakening of China or The Rise Of China, the Chinese state has begun to develop rapidly both in terms of military, industry, and economy. China itself has experienced a very rapid increase in GDP every year, namely by 10% from 1979 to 2017 this was conveyed by the World Bank itself. However, China’s relations with neighboring East Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea have an unfavorable relationship. Because of various conflicts. This study aims to explain what interests China wants to do by re-establishing very active cooperation with Japan and South Korea which previously had not good relations. In this study, the authors use a theoretical approach, namely 1. Geopolitical theory which explains whether there is a relationship between China’s cooperation with geopolitic interests, and 2. Balance of Power theory which refers to China’s interests to balance the influence of the United States in East Asia. In addition, the research method used in this study is a qualitative research method. The results of this study found some of China’s interests in rebuilding cooperation with Japan and South Korea, namely: 1. Geopolitical interests, which in this case China implements its foreign policy by using Soft Dionomy, this is used to create a good image of China in the eyes of the world, 2 Geostrategy in which in this case China makes regional cooperation such as AMF and APT, 3. Forms alliances with regional countries where China creates regional forums to make alliances with regional countries, 4.
