Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the number and the rotation speed of the blades on the performance of the garlic chopper. This research was conducted from April 2021 to June 2021 at the Laboratory of Agricultural Machinery and Workshop, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The method used was factorial randomized block design (RAKF) with two research factors, namely the number of blades (A) and blade rotation speed (B) with three treatment levels and each treatment combination was repeated three times. The parameters of this research are the working capacity of the tools, the efficiency of chopping and the uniformity of the chopping products. The results of this research indicate that the highest percentage of the machines effective capacity value is found in the treatment combination of the number of blades four blades and rotation speed of 700 rpm (A3B1) amounted 12.62 kg / hour. For the treatment of the most chopping efficiency is the combination treatment of the number of blades of four blades and the rotation speed of the blades of 700 rpm (A3B1) amounted 98.17%. And for the average percentage of the combination treatment of the uniformity of chopping results with a thickness of 0.5 mm to 1 mm, the most is the combination treatment of the number of blades of two blades with a blade rotation speed of 700 rpm (A1B1), amounted 18.61%.
