Abstract

This study aims to determine the efforts of SMP Negeri 26 Palembang in developing the character of environmental care for students. The research method used in this research is qualitative with descriptive method, which becomes the social situation in this study is SMP Negeri 26 Palembang as the actor under study, efforts to develop students' environmental care character at school are the activities under study, and SMP Negeri 26 Palembang is a place to study. researched. The effort used at SMP Negeri 26 Palembang in shaping environmental care behavior is to apply three concepts of national character development according to the Balitbang of the Ministry of National Education, namely First, Subject Integration, namely through integrating environmental material into all subjects at least one KD in each semester. These environmental materials are included in each lesson plan and syllabus. Second, the Implementation Approach consists of spontaneous activities, conditioning and exemplary. Third, the habit approach (habit), through activities / programs made by SMP Negeri 26 Palembang such as the community development program which is held every day, class pickets, healthy Fridays and KIR extracurricular programs.
