Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of vermicompost and sulfur fertilizer to the growth and production of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) Bima Brebes variety. This research was conducted from February to May 2021 in Tanah Mas, Palembang, South Sumatra. The seeds used were shallots of the Bima Brebes variety. The treatment consisted of two factors, the first factor was vermicompost, namely V0 = Control, V1 = 500 g/polybag, V2 = 1 kg/polybag, and V3 = 1.5 kg/polybag. The second factor of sulfur fertilizer is S0 = Control, S1 = 1 g/polybag, S2 = 2 g/polybag, and S3 = 3 g/polybag. This study used a RAKF and analyzed using ANOVA and BNT 5%. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of tubers, fresh weight of tubers, dry weight of tubers, clove weight, tuber diameter, SPAD value , as well as analysis of vermicompost and planting media. Based on the results of the research, vermicompost had a very significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of tubers, fresh weight of tubers, dry weight of tubers, clove weight, tuber diameter, and SPAD value. Sulfur fertilizer application significantly affected the plant height in the second and third weeks, and the number of leaves in the sixth week. The combination of vemicompost and sulfur fertilizer had a significant effect on the number of leaves at the eighth week. The results obtained that the best treatment was giving vermicompost 1.5 kg/polybag because it gave the best effect on the growth and production of shallots.
