Abstract

This study was aimed at finding the influence of foreign investment and foreign debt settlement on the foreign exchange reserves in Indonesia. The data used were the secondary data in the period from the lst quarterly of the year 2002 to the 4lh quarterly of the year 2012. The Vector Autoregression (VAR) was used to analyze the data by firstly tested using the unit root and cointegration tests which resulted in the Impulse Response Function (IRF) and the Forecasting Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD). The resluts of VAR indicated that foreign investment in the long term was positively related and significantly effected the Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves. While foreign debt settlement had significant negative effect of the foreign exchange reserves in Indonesia
