Abstract

Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a disease or a group of symptoms caused by pressure on median nerve in the canalis carpi of the wrist. CTS often occurs in people who work primarily using the upper limbs that involve flexion and extension movements, namely the wrist, as happened in bank employees. Therefore, the researcher is interested in conducting a research on the factors that can potentially influence the incidence of CTS amongst bank employees. Methods: Analytical Observation. Results: Based on 119 research subjects, 76 people experienced CTS (63.9%). Most of the subjects aged <30 years were 79 people (66.4%) with male as many as 61 people (51.3%). Most of the research subjects were non-obese with BMI below 25, namely 79 people (66.4%) and > 4 years of working time as many as 86 people (72.3%). Meanwhile, the frequency of repetitive movements was at most 97 people (81.5%). In this study, there was a significant relationship between CTS and repetitive motion. Conclusions: The incidence of CTS in Bank BTN employees is quite high, as many as 76 people (63.9%) of 119 respondents. There is a significant correlation between CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) and repetitive movements. While CTS with age, gender, BMI, years of working time and duration of work has no significant correlation. Keywords: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), Affecting Factors, Bank Employees
