Abstract

Down syndrome is a developmental disorder in children so that it is difficult tocarry out self-care and depend on family support. Family support consists of informational support, assessment support, emotional support, instrumental support, and social support. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between family support and self - care ability in children with Down syndrome. This research is quantitative descriptive. The sample selection used probability sampling technique through random sampling with a total sample of 37 children and their parents. This research was conducted in July 2021. Results test analysis Chi-Square shows a significant relationship between variables of informational support, reward support, social support with self-care abilities of children with Down syndrome with each p value of 0.018, 0.036, 0.042. The variables of emotional support and instrumental support do not have a significant relationship. means with self-care ability of children with Down syndrome with p values of 0.625, 0, 104 respectively. The results of the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the coefficient value of B (3.301) and Exp (B) (27.143) was the highest informational support variable when compared to other variables. Informational support is the support that is most closely related to impaired self-care ability of children with Down syndrome.
