Abstract

COVID-19 is an infectious respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus that infects newborns to old people, while pregnant women are the most susceptible. Pregnant women experienced changes in their body and immunity, made them very affected by respiratory infections. COVID-19 infection in pregnancy could lead to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality risks. This study objects to find out the maternal and perinatal outcomes on pregnant mothers with COVID-19 at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This cohort retrospective study was conducted on pregnant mothers who gave birth at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang and had medical records from March 2020 until August 2021. There are 220 samples consisting of 62 patients with COVID-19 (28,18%) and 158 patients without COVID-19 (71,82%). Most maternal outcomes on pregnant mothers giving birth with COVID-19 are section caesaria with the total of 82,26% and most perinatal outcomes on the newborn from mothers with COVID-19 are fetal distress with the total of 12,13%. From the statistical analysis, we found that pneumonia (RR=12,76, 95% CI 5,66-28,73), sectio caesaria (RR=2,74, 95% CI 1,85-4,08), and ICU admission (RR=6,90, 95% CI 1,40-33,99) are significantly associated with COVID-19 (p<0,05). There are no perinatal outcomes which are significantly associated with COVID-19 statistically (p>0,05). The prevalence of pregnant mother with COVID-19 at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang was 28,18%. The maternal outcomes being found were pneumonia, premature rupture of membrane, sectio caesaria, ARDS, preterm labor, preeclampsia, eclampsia, maternal mortality, sepsis, and ICU asmission. The perinatal outcomes being found were preterm birth, low birth weight, stillbirth, IUFD, fetal distress, NICU admission and vertical transmission. COVID-19 is increasing the risk of maternal outcomes on pregnancy.
