Abstract

Background: Most of the COVID-19 patients with severe and critical symptoms died due to experiencing multiorgan dysfunction at the end of the disease. The SOFA score is one of the variables used to predict the death of COVID-19 patients because of its ability to measure the function of organs such as respiratory, kidneys, liver, cardiovascular, hematology and central nervous system. The purpose of this study was to determine the relation between SOFA scores and mortality of COVID-19 patients. Method: This study used a cross-sectional observational analytical design and total sampling method. The research used the medical record data of COVID-19 patients who are treated in the COVID ICU at dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang in 2020 and meets research criteria. Data analysis was carried out with Mann Whitney using the 25th version of SPSS device. Result: There are 101 COVID-19 patients in ICU, but 48 of them excluded because the data were incomplete. From 53 subject, 33 of them were died. The mean age and SOFA Score of the dead patients are 56,45 and 6,81. Most of them were dominated by the man with total 23 (62,2%), 18 (60%) of them diagnosed with medical, with the most comorbid that included which are hypertension and others with total 13 (59,1%) of them. The results showed that there was an insignificant relation between SOFA scores and the mortality of COVID-19 patients (p=0.394). Conclusion: There is no relation between SOFA scores and mortality of COVID-19 patients.
