Abstract

Background. Stroke is a cerebrovascular disease that ranks first out of Indonesia's top 10 causes of death. Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel bursts and causes bleeding into the brain. Hemorrhagic strokes happen around 10%-20% of all types of stroke. The case fatality rate is 25% to 48%. From these numbers, it can be concluded that hemorrhagic stroke has a high mortality rate. Risk factors for hemorrhagic stroke consist of hypertension, drug abuse, excessive alcohol consumption, lack of physical activity, and diet. The non-modifiable risk factors include age, gender, race-ethnicity, and family history. These risk factors can affect the clinical outcome in hemorrhagic stroke patients. This study aimed to determine the clinical characteristics of hemorrhagic stroke patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin in 2020. Method. This study is a descriptive study and uses secondary data in the form of medical resume data for hemorrhagic stroke patients at Dr. RSUP. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2020 who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results. The highest type of hemorrhagic stroke from this study was intracerebral hemorrhage (56.9%). Sociodemographic factors with the highest distribution were in the age category 55-64 years (40.4%) and male gender (50.5%). The risk factors for hypertension in the study subjects were (83.5%), (14.7%) who had a history of smoking, and (13.8%) had a history of coagulopathy. The majority of patients had onset time of 24 hours (51.4%), compos mentis consciousness status (GCS score 15-14) (39.4%), right-sided upper and lower limb muscle strength with a score of 3 (40.9%), left-sided upper limb muscle strength with a score of 3 (35.4 %), left-sided lower limb muscle strength with a score of 3 (37.5%), and survival events (67.0%). Conclusion. Hemorrhagic stroke patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2020 are mostly suffered from an intracerebral hemorrhage, aged 55-64 years and male. The most dominant risk factor, which almost all patients had, is hypertension. Most patients had an onset of 24 hours, and the majority came with compos mentis consciousness. The highest value of muscle strength on the right and left side of the patient was 3, and the majority of patients had a live clinical outcome.
