Abstract

This research is purposed to know the crisis management of public relation SKK Migas Perwakilan South Sumatera in managing the crisis institution. The result of research used the crisis management theory according to Fraser P. Seitel, by using the qualitative descripitive method. The process of collecting the research data has been done by interview, documentary, and observation referring to the interview orientation. SKK Migas South Sumatra Representative has experienced a crisis and has carried out crisis management in it. Managing crises through crisis management can reduce and prevent crises within the Southern Sumatra Representative SKK Migas institution. The results of this study indicate the application and function of the SKK Migas public relations crisis management of the Sumbagsel Representative Office has carried out and managed the crisis institutions, it is evident that there is a match between the application of crisis management in the SKK Migas Representative of the South Sumatra Representative with Fraser P. Seitel. SKK Migas Sumbagsel Representative starts managing the crisis by defining risks, by grouping internal and external parties to see who will be exposed to the risks and see what positive and negative risks will occur. then the second stage is taking actions that can reduce risk by taking initial actions such as meetings and forming mitigation teams, and action plans such as CSR, Socialization, and Mitigation. The third stage is to identify the causes of risk by comparing data from KKKS, Media Monitoring, and Fact Finding to get accurate data. The fourth stage was where the public relations representative of the South Sumatra Representative SKK Migas carried out crisis communication to the public and the media both in the form of clarification or Press Release. The final stage creates a consistent message where the SKK Migas public relations representative from Sumbagsel himself carries out the communication and provides an explanation of the negative news or the existing crisis and cooperates with the local media.
