Abstract

Sharp object violence is violence using an object that has a pointed or sharp side that causes injury. Injuries experienced by victims of violence in each case of sharp trauma have a different pattern. The pattern of wounds in sharp trauma is the type of wound produced due to the hardness of sharp objects (incised wounds, stab wounds and chop wounds), the number of wounds and the location of the wound. This study aims to show the relation patterns of wounds and victims of sharp trauma violence in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital and Bhayangkara Palembang Hospital in 2019-2021. This research is an analytic observational study with a cross sectional study design, using secondary data from Visum et Repertum at the Forensic Department of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital and Bhayangkara Palembang Hospital. Based on research conducted at the Forensic Department of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital and Bhayangkara Palembang Hospital from 2019-2021, sharp trauma victims from living victims (84.4%) with the age of the victim >18 years (92.2%) and male (94.8%) . The victims' occupations were mostly private employee (22.1%). The most common types of wounds found were stab wounds (54.5%), chop wounds (26%) and incised wounds (19.5%). The most number of injuries <5 were found in victims (92.2%) and the location of the most injuries to victims of sharp trauma was the upper extremities (23.3%). Most victims of sharp trauma found were living victims, male, age >18 years and occupation and work as a private employees. The pattern of injuries in victims of violent sharp trauma was mostly stab wound with number of injuries <5 and located in the upper extremities. There is no relationship between the type of wound and victims of sharp trauma violence. There is no relationship between the number of injuries and victims of sharp trauma violence.
