Abstract

During the Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, people were forced to work from home and some people chose to do their hobbies while they were assigned to work from home. One of the current hobbies is growing ornamental plants. Ornamental plants that are popular at this time for example the Aglaonema plant. Caring for your plants cannot be separated from monitoring the environmental quality of the plants. The purpose of this research is to design a website-based monitoring system and Android application for an Internet of Things (IoT) based smart garden. This research phase includes gathering requirements, building prototypes, coding the system, testing the system, evaluating the system, and using the system. The research uses software, namely PHP, HTML, CSS, C++, and MySQL. Then for hardware, it uses a BH1750, a DHT22 sensor, and a soil moisture sensor. The results of this study are a monitoring system that can be accessed on the Blynk website and application. There is a history search feature on the website as well as notifications via email and the Blynk application every half hour if the Aglaonema plant does not meet the criteria for plant growth.
