Abstract

ABSTRACT THE INCIDENCE OF RENAL IMPAIRMENT AND ITS RISK FACTORS IN OSTEOPOROSIS PATIENTS Nyayu Khalisha Putri, December 2021, 78 pages Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University Background: It is known that osteoporosis and renal impairment are diseases that both have significant morbidity and mortality in the elderly and are multifactorial. The prevalence of osteoporosis patients with a history of renal impairment will increase along with the increasing progression of renal impairment. The use of osteoporosis therapy drugs also depends on the presence or absence of renal impairment in the patient. Therefore, researcher conducted a study on the incidence of renal impairment and its risk factors in osteoporosis patients. Methods: The design of this research is descriptive observational. The data was taken by tracing the medical records of osteoporosis patients who had renal impairment at the Su'Adah Clinic in Palembang during the period from January - October 2021, followed by interviews with patients. The total sample collected was 105 people, but only 47 people met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis used univariate test with the help of SPSS software. Results: The incidence of renal impairment in osteoporosis patients at the Su'Adah Clinic for the period from January - October 2021 is 12.3%. The distribution of osteoporosis patients who had renal impairment in this study was mostly in the age group of 71 – 80 years (46,8%), female gender (57,4%), had normal nutritional status (BMI 18.5 – 25.0 kg/m²) (46,8%), no history of hypertension (91.5%), no history of diabetes mellitus (89.4%), history of NSAIDs consumption (74.4%) and no family history of renal impairment (93,6%). Conclusion: Osteoporosis patients with renal impairment at Su'Adah Clinic are mostly age >50 years old, and 3/4 of patients have a history of NSAID consumption.
