Abstract

Associated Maternal Factors to The Low Birth Weight in RSUP Dr. Moh. Hoesin Palembang Background. Low birth weight (LBW) is one of the health problems that contributes to infant mortality which is an indicator of the success of achieving health development and a reflection of public health status. Low birth weight is influenced by several factors, such as maternal factors, fetal factors, placental factors and environmental factors. Babies with low birth weight have a risk of health problems later in life, one of which is growth retardation. Method. This is an analytical observational study with a case control study design. The sample of this study were mothers who gave birth recorded in medical records. Sampling in this study used a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 77 for each sample group. Data analysis was perfomed using descriptively and inferentially (chi square analysis and logistic analysis). Results. From the results of this study, gestational age, anemia, and a history of COVID-19 found a significant relationship to the incidence of low birth weight. Variable gestational age is the most dominant maternal factor to the incidence of low birth weight in Dr. RSUP. Moh. Hoesin Palembang. Conclusions. Gestational age, anemia, and a history of COVID-19 affect the incidence of low birth weight in RSUP Dr. Moh. Hoesin Palembang. Keywords: babies, maternal factors, low birth weight
