Abstract

Background: The increase in smartphone users continues to occur every year, coupled with the current Covid-19 pandemic situation causing the government to implement policy social distancing , so that changing the learning system to being from home is done online, this causes students to usage period smartphone increases and causes students to often maintain non-ergonomic positions and carry out continuous movements with their hands when using smartphone it causes musculoskeletal problems such as wrist angular stiffness and hand pain . Method: This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design using primary data obtained from questionnaires via google form and photo takers . Instruments used to rate usage smartphone is SAS ( Smartphone Addiction Scale), To measure the maximum flexion angle using Software Kinovea and to judge Hand Pain using VAS ( Visual Analog Scale). Data were analyzed using test chi-square. Results: The results of this study with 70 students found students with a high addiction risk of 15.7%, medium 70% and low 14.3%. It was found that 65.7% of students experienced pain in their hands. and 87.1% of students had normal right hand maximum flexion and 88.6% normal left hand maximum flexion. get value pvalue for addiction use smartphone with hand pain 0.000, usage addiction smartphone with a right wrist flexion angle of 0.287, as well as addiction to the use of smartphone with a left wrist flexion angle of 0.448. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between the use of smartphone with hand pain and there is no significant relationship between the use of smartphone maximum wrist flexion angle.
