Abstract

This study aims to reveal the multicultural representation in the film Number Uno. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with semiotic analysis approach. The analysis was carried out based on Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, namely denotation, connotation, and myth. This research data collection was obtained by watching and observing carefully the film and also through various documentations. In testing the validity of the data using triangulation of sources in the form of scenes contained in the film Number Uno and related scientific references and relevant to the research. The results of the research at the denotation level, there is a dominant element, namely the verbal element in this film, showing differences through physical and language. At the level of connotation, it implies an acknowledgment of the reality of cultural diversity. And the myths formed are multicultural values to uphold Bhineka Tunggal Ika.
