Abstract

Papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) contain alkaloid and flavonoid compounds that can be used as acne treatment. Pell-off mask is one of the alternative preparations that can increase the comfort of use. This study aims to make a peel-off mask preparation containing papaya leaf extract to inhibit acne-causing bacteria, namely the bacteria propionibacterium acne. The composition of the peel-off mask preparation consists of ethanol extract of papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.), PVA polymer and pro-amine protein Zein, propylene glycol, HPMC, Na Benzoate, 70% Ethanol, and Aquadides. Variations of papaya leaf ethanol extract (Carica papaya L.) added to the preparation were 5%, 7%, and 10%. Determination of the best peel-off mask preparation formula is based on organoleptic, pH, adhesion, dispersibility, and stability. Antibacterial activity test against p.acne using paper disc diffusion method. The results showed that the best formula in this study was formula 3 (F3) with a concentration of 10% papaya leaf ethanol extract. The resulting preparation is green in color, has a characteristic odor of extract, is semi-solid, homogeneous and stable. pH, dispersibility, drying power, adhesiveness 7,00±0,10, respectively; 6.30±0.10 cm; 18.22±0.062 minutes; 4,100±0,1000 sec. The results of the in vitro antibacterial activity statistical test showed that the diameter of the inhibition zone of the pell-off mask of papaya leaf ethanol extract (Carica papaya L) formulas 1, 2, 3, K-, and K+ were 15±1, 11.86±1.026, respectively. 17.67±2.516, 0±0, 22.86±5.17 (including strong antibacterial category).
