Abstract

Backgrounds. Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is the involuntary discharge of urine during activities or when sneezing or coughing. Urinary incontinence is a health problem associated with decreased quality of life in women globally and is one of the most common complications of childbirth. However, SUI can be prevented by knowing the risk factors that can cause postpartum SUI, namely vaginal delivery, obesity, parity, episiotomy, birth weight, length of stage II. This study aims to determine the prevalence and analyze the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of SUI 3-6 months postpartum at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods. This research is an analytic observational study using a cross sectional research design. The sample in this study were mothers 3-6 months postpartum at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample obtained amounted to 39 respondents. The data in this study came from the patient's medical record status at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang and from the results of filling out the questionnaire. Results. This study involved 39 respondents. The prevalence of SUI 3-6 months postpartum at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang, which was 23.1% (9/39). The relationship of risk factors, namely vaginal delivery, Maternal BMI, parity, episiotomy, birth weight, and length of the second stage with the incidence of SUI 3-6 months postpartum was found to have a p-value > 0.05 so there was no significant relationship. Conclusions. The prevalence of SUI postpartum was 23.1% and there was no significant relationship between risk factors and the incidence of SUI 3-6 months postpartum at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.
