Abstract

This research was carried out at the hydroponic house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, started in May - July 2021. This study aims to analyze the growth of the shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) varieties of Bima Brebes and yields on various hydroponic growing media. The research method used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, in order to obtain 12 treatment units with each treatment unit consisting of 7 plants. Total plants were 84 plants treated with P1 = husk charcoal, P2 = palm shell biochar, P3 = Cocopeat, and P4 = sawdust. Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, root length, tuber diameter, tuber fresh weight, tuber dry weight, leaf greenness, net assimilation rate and relative growth rate. The research treatment had a very significant effect on the number of plant heights in the first week, plant height in the second week, plant height in the third week, and the number of leaves in the first week. Significant effect on the number of tillers at the eighth week. No significant effect on plant height, number of leaves from the fourth week to the eighth week, the number of leaves from the second week to the eighth week, the number of tillers from the first week to the seventh week, root length, tuber diameter, tuber fresh weight, tuber dry weight, leaf greenness level, rate of net assimilation and relative growth rate. Treatment palm shell biochar planting media can increase the number of tillers.
