Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the performance of the horizontal type crusher and sieve on ultisol soil. The research was conducted from March to July 2021 at the workshop of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatera. The method used was a Factorial Randomized Block Design with two research factors, drying time (A) and blade rotation speed (B) with three treatment levels and each treatment combination was repeated three times. The parameters of this research were the effective capacity, fuel requirements, separation capacity, efficiency of breaking up the chunks, and the cost of fuel requirements. The result of this research indicated that the highest effective capacity value was found in the A2B3 treatment combination was 723.44 kg/hour with two weeks drying time and 300 rpm blade rotation speed. The value of the largest fuel requirements was found in combination of A2B3 treatment was 2.14 liters/hour with two weeks drying time and 300 rpm blade rotation speed. The value of the largest separation capacity is in A2B3 which is 95% with two weeks of drying time and 300 rpm blade rotation speed. The highest value of the efficiency of breaking the chunks was found in the treatment A1B1 which is 14.56% with one week drying time and 100 rpm blade rotation speed. The highest cost value was found in the A1B3 treatment combination was 24.88 rp/kg with one week drying time and 300 rpm blade rotation speed.
