Abstract

The aims of this research were to: (1) Identify the factors that influence farmers' decisions in selecting organic rice farming in Sumbersuko Village, Belitang District OKU Timur Regency, (2) Measure the farmers’ behavior in applying organic rice farming in Sumbersuko Village, Belitang District OKU Timur Regency. This research was conducted in Sumbersuko Village, Belitang District, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency. Data collection was conducted in October 2018. The research method used was the survey method, where organic rice farmers and inorganic rice farmers as the research samples. The sampling method used in this study was dispropedated stratified random sampling where the first layer was organic farmers and in the second layer of inorganic farmers in Sumbersuko Village, Belitang District, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency. The sample used as many as 60 farmers consisting of 2 layers namely layer 1 were as many as 30 farmers and layer 2 were inorganic rice farmers as many as 30 people. Data used in the form of primary data and secondary data. The results of the research that have been conducted show that from the results of the Binary Logistic Regression test with SPSS version 20 the factors that influence farmers' decisions in organic rice farming are land area, farm income level, and number of dependents while those that have a negative effect are age, and level of education. Based on the results of the study, farmer's behavior in applying organic rice farming measured using 3 elements, namely knowledge, mental attitude and skills classified as high criteria with an average score of 174.73.
