Abstract
Palm oil is a type of vegetable oil that is Indonesia's main and most important agricultural commodity. Stem rot disease caused by Ganoderma boninense is one of the obstacles in oil palm plantations; one of the controls for Ganoderma-caused stem rot disease is the use of herbaceous plants that have the ability to suppress pathogen attack because they are antagonistic and allelopathic to fungal mycelium. The goal of this study is to see how effective rubber wood inoculum sources with varied sizes are at suppressing G. boninense on oil palm and red ginger seedlings. Greenhouse and Phytopathology Laboratory, Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya will conduct the research. The research will take place from June through November 2021. RAL was employed in this study, which had five treatments and ten replications. 1) S+J+GB+TLTF8, 2) S+J+GB+TLTF3, 3) S+J+GB+TLTF8, 4) Control+GB, and 5) Control-GB were the treatments employed. The seeding of oil palm seedlings with red ginger exhibited evidence of necrosis on plant leaves, necrosis of oil palm seed roots and bulbs, and signs of disease in the form of fruit bodies that formed in PKK colonized by Ganoderma mycelium after 2 months of inoculation. The antagonist fungus Trichoderma TLTF8 isolate could minimize G. boninense infection and increase the initial growth of oil palm seedlings intercropped with red ginger if given to them. The root exudate of intercropping oil palm and red ginger seedlings applied by Trichoderma to the mycelium of G. boninense showed no antagonistic action.
