Abstract
Quenching is a heat treatment process with rapid dipping cooling method to increase the hardness of a material. This study used a low carbon steel specimen with a temperature of 750 C with a salt water cooling medium with a salt content of 25%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of quenching heat treatment on the test specimen on the corrosion rate and its hardness using a low carbon steel specimen in an HN03 environment which will then be tested for its hardness using the Vickers method. The method used in this study is a pure experiment with the results obtained that quenching has a very good effect on the value of hardness and resistance to the corrosion rate of the material.
