Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate tolerance of some accessions resulted from the cross of Black Rice and Inpara 5 variety in sub-emergence condition, and to select parental plants for the following research. The parental plants were selected by defined 10 selected plants of each accession based on the plant height, number of tillers and chlorophyll content after the plants were treated with sub-emergence condition by using 49-days-old seedlings for 14 days. Hereinafter, those selected plants were planted in pots and evaluated for their growth and production. The research utilized Randomized Block Design consisted of 3 blocks, each contained 3-4 plants. Data analysis was performed with Analysis of Variance followed by LSD test at α=0,05. Result of the research showed that accessions resulted from the cross black rice with Inpara 5 rice variety generally showed tolerant to sub-emergence condition, as indicated by its recoveribility after 14 days period treated with sub-emergence condition. Forthermore, the accessions also showed high potential to be new variety of Black Rice which tolerant to sub-emergence. The accessions that showed high productivity were the parental plants with identity of F2IP.4.13, F3IP.6.8.1, and F3IP.6.11, while the parental plants that showed high homogenity were the plants with identity of F3IP.6.8.4, F3IP.6.8.5 and F3IP.6.11.1.
