Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari kondisi beberapa sifat fisik tanah aktual untuk tanaman karet pada areal perkebunan PT.Gembala Sriwijaya II Kecamatan Indralaya Kabupaten Ogan Ilir, Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode survai tingkat intensif, dengan dukungan peta keija berskala 1:5400, waktu penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan dari bulan April sampai Juni 2005. Pengeboran dan pengambilan contoh tanah dilaksanakan di Petak 87. Pengamatan dan pengambilan contoh tanah dilakukan di lapangan dan di laboratorium Jurusan Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya, untuk mengetahui kondisi sifat fisik tanah pada areal tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi tanah tersebut didominasi tanah mineral. Kelas tekstur tanah di lokasi penelitian didominasi lempung berpasir, yang mana kerapatan isinya antara 0,77 g cm-3 hingga 1,36 g cm-3, dengan persentase ruang pori berkisar 48,68 % sampai 70,94 %, dan permeabilitasnya berkisar antara 0,15 cm jam-1 sampai 15,2 cm jam-1.
