Abstract

The waters of the Way Belau River Estuary are one of the rivers that empties into Lampung Bay. Utilization of the waters of the Way Belau Estuary for various activities has the potential to cause heavy metal pollution of Pb and Cu. This study aims to analyze the concentration of heavy metals Pb and Cu in the sediment and to assess the quality of the waters of the Way Belau River estuary based on the concentration of heavy metals Pb and Cu. This research was conducted in January 2021. Sampling was carried out using the purposive sampling method. The sediment samples were tested using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) with a wavelength of Cu 324.7 nm and Pb 283.3 nm. The results showed that the concentration of heavy metal Pb in the sediment ranged from 28.26 mg/kg - 82.34 mg/kg and the concentration of heavy metal Cu was between 32.89 mg/kg - 177.08 mg/kg.
