Abstract

This research is a descriptive research which aims to describe students’ mathematical representation skill on slope of straight line as the topic by using PMRI approach. The subjects of this research are the 8th graders of SMP N 13 Palembang consisting of 40 students. The learning process will be customized with the principle and characteristic of PMRI approach. The Technique used for collecting data of this research is written test which includes of five essay questions, an observation and interview to obtain the additional data. Based on the research result, it is obtained that the description of students’ mathematical representation on slope of straight line topic by using PMRI approach was categorized with the details as the follow: 5 students are categorized excellent in mathematical representation skill with frequent indicators which are verbal representation followed by simbolic and visual; 19 students are categorized good in mathematical representation skill with frequent indicators which are symbolic representation followed by verbal and visual; 11 students are categorized enough in mathematical representation skill with frequent indicators which are symbolic representation followed by verbal and visual; 5 students are categorized less in mathematical representation skill with frequent indicators which are symbolic representation followed by verbal and visual and none of student who have very less categorical mathematical representation skill.
