Abstract

Pineapple is a horticultural commodity with great development potential, as it dominates the world trade in tropical fruit. World pineapple production accounts for 20% of the world's tropical fruit production. However, there are several obstacles found in pineapple plants, one of which is disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of leaf spot disease on pineapple plants in Kemang Village, Lembak District, Muara Enim Regency. The benefit of this research is to be able to find out and provide information about the development of leaf spot disease caused by the pathogen Culvularia sp on pineapple plants. This research was conducted in October 2021. This study was conducted to determine the development of leaf spot disease on pineapple plants using a randomized block design (RAK) with 2 treatments and 10 replications, as follows: P1 : Treatment of Curvularia (without being injured), P2 : Treatment of Curvularia (Wounded). The fungus found in this study was the fungus Curvularia which causes leaf spot disease. It is known that the pathogen taken in Kemang Village is the fungus Curvularia. And at the time of the research, it was true that the fungus growing at the research site was Curvularia. The size of the fungus Curvularia conide at the study site was 16.62 μm x 7.06 μm. In the treatment with and without stitches, the length and width of the average spots were not significantly different or had no effect. Keywords: Pineapple plant, Curvularia, Leaf spot.
